Breaking his silence in the fraud case of Rs 11,400 crore in Punjab National Bank, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that his government will take strong action against financial irregularities and the loot of public wealth will not be tolerated. Modi has asked the management and monitoring bodies of financial institutions to do their work with utmost zeal so that such scams can be stopped.
Let us tell you that, PNB, the country’s second largest public sector bank, is in discussion due to a fraud of Rs 11,400 crore this time. Billionaire diamond businessman Neerav Modi is the main accused in this case. Many investigation agencies are investigating this matter.
He also said that the management of financial institutions, auditors and regulators should do their work with complete dedication. He said, “Those people who have got the work to make rules and policies and maintain high morale, I want to appeal to them, they should do their work with dedication and hard work.”
In a program organized by the daily newspaper ‘Economic Times’, Prime Minister Modi said,’ I want to make it clear that this government is taking stern action against the financial irregularities and will continue to take action. The system (government) will not tolerate the loot of public money. ‘ The Prime Minister, however, did not take the name of Neerav Modi or Punjab National Bank in his address.
