Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not giving the Pulwama attack its due importance. He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of politicising the issue.
In the wake of Pulwama terror attack, Rajnath Singh, last week, called an all-party meeting to pass a resolution shunning politics. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, too accepted the invitation vowing to veto politics the attack in respect CRPF soldiers who were martyred in Kashmir.
However, failing to keep its promise, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala attacked the Centre over Pulwama attack on Thursday.
Accusing the prime minister of being busy shooting a film in Jim Corbett national park, Randeep Surjewala said, “When the whole country was mourning the loss of lives of our jawans in Pulwama Attack in the afternoon, PM Narendra Modi was busy shooting for a film in Jim Corbett park till evening. Is there any PM in the world like this? I have no words really.”
Randeep Surjewala also condemned the Pulwama attack said, “The Pulwama terror attack is an attack on the integrity of our nation. During this hour of tragedy, the Congress party extends its support to our security forces.”

The Congress spokesperson compared the action the Congress has taken against Pakistan with what the Narendra Modi government has done. He said Congress had given a befitting reply to Pakistan in the past. “We defeated Pakistan in 1971. Not only did Indira Gandhi help free Bangladesh, but she also got 91,000 Pakistani soldiers to surrender. She made Pakistan face defeat.”
He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had prioritised saving his own government over mourning the attack. “We fully support giving a strong answer to Pakistan but Modiji has forgotten his duties (Raj Dharm) and is instead focusing on saving his government (Raj). The hunger for power is bigger than his respect for the martyrs.”
Randeep Surjewala took on the prime minister for being in Jim Corbett while the nation was mourning, saying “The nation was picking the pieces of its soldiers while the prime minister was giving speeches. The nation’s stoves were closed but the prime minister was drinking tea in a guest house in Ramnagar.”
He also slammed the BJP government of politicising the attacks, saying “Amit Shah politicised the soldiers’ martyrdom in Assam. He said their martyrdom will not go waste as it was a BJP government in power and not Congress. Did he forget that it was Congress governments who fought wars against Pakistan?”
Reacting to PM Modi’s statement that people should not point fingers during a sensitive situation like the Pulwama attacks, Randeep Surjewala presented a video of Narendra Modi criticising the Centre government over their handling of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
