Prime Minister Narendra Modi will almost open a number of rail projects on Friday in Gujarat. The new Gandhinagar Capital railway station and Surendranagar Pipavav electrified section and the Mahesana-Varetha line converted to the gauge are the main projects. These projects are also the most important ones. PM Modi also has two new trains on the flag – the Gandhinagar Superfast Express Capital-Varanasi, Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) and the Gandhinagar Capital and Varetha Service Trains.
“At 4:30 PM tomorrow, 16th July, a range of interesting development works will be inaugurated in Gujarat. These works cover the environment, nature, railways and science,” PM Modi tweeted on Thursday.
The government has now said in a press release that the Gandhinagar railway station will host world-class amenities on a par with modern airports. It is now a disabled station with a special booking desk, ramps, lifts and a dedicated car park. The state-of-the-art outside facade of the station will feature thematic lighting on a daily basis and a total of 32 themes. The resort is also home, and the entire building has been designed to accommodate greeneries, to a five-star hotel run by a private entity. The upgrade was completed at a cost of Rs 71 crores.
Surendranagar Electrification – Ahmedabad, Viramgam and Surendranagar Yards have been decongestated by the Pipavav Section. Without traction changes from Palanpur, Ahmedabad and other parts of the country to Pipavav Port the project is intended to deliver uninterrupted freight movement. The entire project cost of Rs 289 crore has been completed.
The 55km conversion of the Mahesana-Varetha Gauge includes ten stations with four newly constructed station buildings, such as Visnagar, Vadnagar, Kheralu and Varetha.
It was done at the expense of Rs 293 Crore along with the electrification of Rs 74 crore.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter to talk about the projects. “I have always wanted our Railway Stations to be of top quality, where apart from travels there is a boost to commerce, hospitality and more. One such effort has been made in Gandhinagar. The upgraded station will be inaugurated tomorrow,” he tweeted.
PM Modi will also be inaugurating the Aquatics and Robotics Gallery, and Nature Park in Gujarat Science City. “You would love visiting the Nature Park. It houses a Mist Garden, Chess Garden, Selfie Points, Sculpture Park and an outdoor maze. I specially call upon parents to take their children here,” tweeted PM Modi.
