Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has bestowed numerous exceptional gifts upon Madhya Pradesh and the nation, accelerating the state’s progress towards becoming a developed region.

Continuing this journey of development, Prime Minister Modi is set to present another landmark gift to the Vindhya region with the inauguration of Rewa Airport. Sunday, October 20, will mark a historic day for the Vindhya region as Prime Minister Modi will virtually inaugurate the Rewa Airport.

This airport will be a game changer for the entire region, driving both tourism and investment in Rewa and beyond.

The state’s 6th airport, licensed by the DGCA.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted a license to Rewa Airport, marking a significant development for a large part of Madhya Pradesh.

With this license, aircraft will now be able to operate from Rewa, making it the 6th airport in the state after Bhopal, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, Indore and Gwalior.

This new airport is set to benefit over 65 Lakhs people across the state, while also providing much-needed connectivity and convenience to those in neighboring Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, particularly in areas bordering Rewa.

Bordering areas of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to also benefit.

It is important to note that the districts of Mauganj, Sidhi, Satna, and Maihar are directly connected to Rewa.

In addition to these districts, people from the bordering areas of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh frequently travel to Rewa for work. Rewa has a population of around 15 Lakhs, Mauganj 8Lakhs, Sidhi 12 Lakhs, Singrauli 12Lakhs, and Satna 18 Lakhs.

The construction of Rewa Airport will directly benefit the residents of these districts by providing better connectivity and spurring development. Built under the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, the airport aims to make air travel more accessible to the general public, particularly in smaller cities, while also boosting the local economy and improving overall connectivity in the region.

Investment-Tourism to Benefit

With the recent license approval, Rewa Airport is set to expand its flight operations, passenger services and cargo facilities.

The airport has been newly constructed with a modern terminal, capable of handling ATR-72 aircraft.

These upgraded facilities are expected to attract airlines. The airport’s operations will not only boost tourism in the region but also promote increased investment contributing to the overall economic growth of the area.

A Long-Term Plan Designed with a 50-Year Vision

Rewa Airport has been developed with a vision for the next 50 years, ensuring smooth access for passengers traveling by air.

The existing ring road in Rewa has already significantly improved connectivity, facilitating easier travel for passengers from Sidhi and Satna districts.

The strategic importance of Rewa Airport is further enhanced by its proximity to key regional assets such as the Singrauli power plant, 29 major industrial units in the Vindhya region, well-maintained highways, Mukundpur White Tiger Safari, Bandhavgarh National Park, Sanjay National Park, Asia’s largest solar power plant, scenic waterfalls, Lord Shri Ram’s Tapovan in Chitrakoot, Maihar’s Sharda Maa temple, and major cement industries. All these factors will contribute to the airport’s growing relevance in the region.
