Delhi has chosen to start the unlock procedure after the Covid-19 positive rate fell below 2%. After meeting with L-G Anil Baijal, Kejriwal told the media that companies will be offered tax breaks starting May 31. From Monday, he added, manufacturing and building activities would be permitted in the city for one week.
The current restricted period in Delhi will end on May 31. Last month, the national capital city was placed under lockdown to prevent the virus from spreading. The positive rate in Delhi has plummeted to 1.53 percent from 31% in April, as the city recorded 1,072 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Kejriwal had on Wednesday expressed concerns over businesses shutting down due to the lockdown and hinted at the gradual opening of markets.
“The lockdown cannot be extended for an unlimited period since people are suffering and businesses are shutting down. In the coming days, we will have to see how much can be opened up and how it can be opened. But if the reopening is dependent on vaccination, then we don’t even know when we will be able to vaccinate all,” he had said.
