The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) openers dominated the game, guiding their side to victory with 10 wickets and 21 balls remaining. Devdutt Padikkal’s maiden IPL century was the fastest by an uncapped player in IPL history, and skipper Virat Kohli put on a display with a gutsy half-century.
It was his first of the season for him. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowlers were a no-show from the start, as they were hammered by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) openers. With this game, RCB moves to the top of the points table for the fourth time in a row, while RR drops to the bottom.
Padikkal’s whirlwind left the Royals’ bowling unit gasping for air, hammering 11 fours and six sixes with the willow. Padikkal continued to smash boundaries for fun while Kohli anchored at the other end, and the pair added the first 100 runs in just 9.4 overs.
The Bangalore team had no trouble chasing 178, as the Padikkal-Kohli pair marched towards the goal with 21 deliveries to spare. Padikkal, who had been battling COVID-19 before entering the RCB camp, made a strong comeback on a batting-friendly Wankhede surface.
Devdutt Padikkal’s blistering 101 made him after Manish Pandey and Rishabh Pant the third-youngest player to score an IPL century.

The 32-year-old, who debuted in the IPL against KKR in 2008, increased his all-time run-scoring record over other batsmen in the lucrative league to 6021 runs in 196 games. He has a total of 500 and 40 fifties.
The India captain is also the leading run-scorer in men’s T20 internationals, having racked up 3159 runs in 90 matches. He also leads the batting charts among Indian batsmen in overall T20s, with 9870 runs in the format.
