According to a PTI report, the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL), which had advertised the global tender, has received two proposals. According to the OSMCL’s announcement, the price bid will be opened at 11.30 a.m. on June 9.
According to the OSMCL, the order for half of the total quantity will be awarded to the L1 bidder who submits the lowest quotation. Due to the catastrophic cyclonic storm Yaas that devastated the coast of Odisha on May 26, the state has extended the deadline to participate in the global tender by seven days, from May 28 to June 4.
The state government of Odisha issued an online tender on 14 May to acquire 3.8 crore doses of COVID vaccinations to inoculate the entire population of the state. According to the tender document, selected bidders will be able to offer vaccines in four phases, with the state government issuing separate purchase orders for each. According to the tender’s terms, the winning bidder must deliver the first 75 lakh pills within 30 days of receiving the purchase order and complete the supply of 3.8 crore vials within 120 days.
According to the tender document, the state government would grant advance payment of up to 30% of the value of each purchase order, with ultimate payment guaranteed within two working days of the consignment’s delivery.
The proposal to launch the global tender was accepted by the state Cabinet on May 10. Due to a lack of interest from bidders, some terms and criteria were later modified. Vaccine manufacturers or authorized importers of Covid-19 vaccines certified for emergency use by the authorities of the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, or the World Health Organization are eligible to bid for the worldwide tender, according to the modifications.
In light of the issues experienced by states, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote to his counterparts across the country on June 2 to seek a consensus on the Centre’s centralized procurement of Covid-19 vaccinations.
Meanwhile, a Health Department official in Odisha reported 7,729 new COVID-19 cases and 39 new deaths on Friday.
