New Delhi: Passport probably will not work as a valid proof of address because the Ministry of External Affairs has decided not to publish the passport holder’s address on the last page of the travel document. On the last page of the passport, the name of the father or legal guardian, the name of the holder, the wife’s name and their address are marked.
“The last page of the passport will no longer be published, passport holders with an ECR (immigration check) status will be issued a passport with orange colored passport jacket and people with non-ECR status will get a passport in blue color.
The recommendations of a three-member committee were approved and it was decided that the last page of the second travel documents issued under Passport and Passport Act, 1967 and Passport Rules, 1980 will not be published from now on. Members were included in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
According to the statement, the committee reviewed various issues related to passport applications. It included a review of whether the mother / child has emphasized that the father’s name is not mentioned in the passport. It also included issues related to the single parent’s child and adopted child. The Indian Security Press (ISP) located in Nashik will prepare new passport booklets and, until the new documents are ready, the address will be published on the last page of the passport.
