Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan has said that nomination papers will not be submitted on the holiday.

He said that the process of filing nominations for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state has started from March 20.

Due to 23rd March being a holiday under the Fourth Saturday (Negotiable Instruments Act) and 24th and 25th March being public holidays, nomination papers will not be submitted on these days.

The last date for filing nomination papers for the first phase is March 27.

Deposit amount is Rs 25 thousand for unreserved category, Rs 12,500 for reserved category

Chief Electoral Officer Rajan said that the deposit amount (surety amount) has been fixed by the Election Commission of India for contesting the Lok Sabha-2024 elections.

Candidates belonging to unreserved category will have to submit a deposit amount of Rs 25 thousand and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will have to deposit Rs 12 thousand 500.
