Last year Google announced that it won’t impose a time limit on video calls until September 2020. Later the company extended this offer to compete with rival platforms like Zoom, Skype etc.
When the covid pandemic started earlier in 2020 Google made its G-suite exclusive free for everyone. It also announced that there would be no time limit for group video calls on meet for 24 hours. But now Google no longer with extend this offer.
Google Meet users who use can now attend group calls for only 60 minutes. At 50-55 minutes the users will be notified about the duration. After completion of 1 hour the Meeting would end automatically. If users are using Google meet with 3 or less members then it has no time limit of 60 minutes.
If users want 24-hour limit for group calls on Meet, then they have to upgrade to paid version. To get the Google Workspace Essentials plan users have to pay $8(Rs.600) a month.
Other than Meet, Video conferencing platform such as Zoom, offers unlimited calls for a paid monthly subscription. Google Meet started its free services last year in order to meet the demand of lakhs of people. After the free offer it has gained a huge number of users during 2020.
Currently Google mentions it Google Meet pricing page about the free and monthly subscription. The free unlimited group video call service ended last month. Users can still enjoy 24 hour unlimited video conference on one-to-one calls.
Currently Workspace Individual tier is available in 5 countries only. Users from Japan, US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil enjoy the service. After upgrading to the paid plan One can host calls up to 24 hours.
