In various Cabinet committees, which were reconstructed on Monday, Union ministers who were sworn last week when the Union Council of ministers was expanded and reworked.
In addition to former Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsh Vardhan and Ram Vilas Paswan, the new ministers of Union Bhupender Yadav, Sarbananda Sonowal and Mansukh Mandavia were included in the Cabinet committee on political affairs.
It also addresses economic and political issues without any internal or external security consequences. This committee will be the first to play a key role in tackling Central State problems.
The committee of investment and growth has been made up of newly appointed Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narayan Rane and Ashwini Vaishnaw. The Committee has the task of identifying key time-bound projects involving investment of 1,000 crore or more or any other critical project, as the Committee may specify, in sectors including infrastructure, manufacturing and the establishment of time limits for approving and authorising the ministries/departments concerned to implement the required projects.
In 2019, the Modi Government created the Investment and Growth and Jobs and Capacity Development Committee to establish two additional committees. New additions are Vaishnaw and Yadav in the Committee on Employment and Skills Development.
Ministers of law and the courts Kiren Rijiju and of information and broadcasting minister Anurag Singh Thakur, Social Justice and Empowerment minister Virendra Kumar and tribal Minister Arjun Munda are new members of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.
The commission has the mandate to draw up the timetable for parliamentary meetings, monitor non-governmental affairs and decide on the bills and resolutions which are to be submitted.
While the appointments committee of the Cabinet has Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah, the Cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) has the PM, defence minister Rajnath Singh, external affairs minister S Jaishankar, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, road, transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, commerce minister Piyush Goyal and education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The CCEA was adjusted. Prasad and DV Sadanand Gowda were not included.
Having been appointed Cabinet Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, was included in the Housing Committee, where he was a special invited Minister earlier. Special invitees to the committees are State Ministers. The task of this committee is to oversee and draw up the rules on governmental accommodation allocations.
