The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detained Sushant Singh Rajput’s roommate Siddharth Pithani, nearly a year after the actor’s death in Mumbai, which is being probed by numerous authorities.

On June 14, Siddharth Pithani was one of four persons who were there at Sushant Singh Rajput’s Mumbai house when he was discovered hanging in his room. He was allegedly apprehended this morning in Hyderabad by the anti-drugs agency.

Mr Pithani was interrogated by the Mumbai police and the CBI several times in connection with the killing, which enthralled the nation, sparked many conspiracy theories, and caused a major schism in the Mumbai film industry.

Many people have been charged in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput’s killing, including his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik.

The Narcotics Control Bureau was called in after texts recovered on Rhea Chakraborty’s phone showed communications concerning the actor’s drug purchases.

The probe grew into a larger examination into the connections between Bollywood and narcotics. Many celebrities and A-list actresses were also questioned.

Mr Pithani, an IT worker, had told numerous news stations about the actor’s final moments, and he was questioned by numerous authorities about his version of events.

Mr Pithani had been living with Sushant Rajput for almost a year before his death, and was reputedly dubbed “Buddha” by him. In the days and weeks following the actor’s untimely death, his charges fueled a media frenzy and conjecture.

In September of last year, he was interrogated by the CBI more than a half-dozen times.
