On the first anniversary of the Galwan valley conflict, the Indian Army released a video song in which they paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who bravely battled Chinese troops in Ladakh.
Hariharan, a well-known singer, has contributed his voice to the song ‘Galwan ke Veer.’ It praises the Indian troops who guarded the Galwan for their bravery, claiming that the “heroes” rose to the task when confronted on the highlands.
The nearly five-minute video clip depicts the soldiers’ daily existence in Ladakh, including their round-the-clock watch, training, and battle preparedness to cope with any danger.
On this occasion, Leh-based 14 Corps known as ‘Fire and Fury Corps’ paid homage to Galwan heroes, a spokesperson of the Northern Command said.
During battles in the Galwan valley in Ladakh on June 15, last year, at least 20 Indian Army soldiers died. Five Chinese military commanders and troops were killed in confrontations with the Indian Army, China officially confirmed in February 2021.
At Post 120 in eastern Ladakh, the Army constructed a memorial for the ‘Gallants of Galwan’ last year. The memorial referred to their valorous actions during Operation Snow Leopard and the manner in which they drove PLA soldiers out of the region.
Following a series of military and diplomatic discussions, both India and China completed the evacuation of soldiers and weaponry from the north and south banks of Pangong Lake in February. They are now in discussions to prolong the disengagement period.
