Narmada river which flows always is so dry for the first time that it can be crossed by walking only, as It’s just 150 meters wide now.
Dewas. Narmada river, which is said to be the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh, is likely to witness the lowest water level in the beginning of summer this year. Located at the western side of Madhya Pradesh, about 120 km from Dewas district headquarter, Narmada river is considered to be the navel area of Narmada. At the end of the district, the water level of the Narmada river has so low that this area, which is always covered with the rapid drift of water Now only big rocks are seen. In the middle of the Narmada river flowing in Nemavar, there is a pond. Which is called Nabhikunda. Due to mythological and religious significance, this Nabhikund is full of devotees throughout the year. The devotees reach this pool from the boat and treats river Narmada as holy by worshiping, bathing and dancing with water, but this is probably the first time in the ancient history of thousands of years, when Nabhikund has only nominal water left .
70-year-old Singh Singh Chawda, who lives here, explains that he has been living at Nemawar Ghat since childhood, but here he is now witnessing such small amount of water for the first time in his entire life. Some other old people of that area also told that we had never seen stone and rock around Nabhikund, but for the first time this year. Actually this Nabhikund of Nemavar has a great mythological significance. The fame of the temple of ancient Siddhnath Mahadev from Nagar Nemavar, situated on the banks of the virtue Salila Narmada is far and wide. Nemavar is said to be the navel of Narmada, i.e. Middle. The temple is built on a small hill near Narmada beach. There is also an incomplete temple built by Bhim at the top of the hill. This place has been mentioned several times in Hindu and Jain Puranas. It is believed to be the pilgrimage sanctuary by destroying all sins. The legend story is that Shivalinga of the Siddhanath temple was established in the Satyuga by four saints, Sanandan, Sanatan, Sanak and Sanatkumar . That is why this temple is named Siddhnath. On the upper floor, Omkareshwar is situated and Mahakaleshwar are located on the lower floor. The devotees also believe that when water is offered on Siddheshwar Mahadev Shivaling then the echo of ”Om” is created.
It is believed that its peak was built 3094 years ago. In the Dwapar era, this temple was built by the Kauravas, who had been made the head of the Pandav son Bhim with his arm. The 10th and 11th century Chandel and Parmar kings had renovated this temple. For the first time here Narmada was so dry that you can cross the 150 meter wide bridge. Even earlier, when the water in the summer was reduced, the umbilical cistern would appear. But, for the first time in the last days of March, Narmada river was soaked in Nemavar that it could easily be crossed by feet. A distance of 150 meters wide from one end to the other end can be seen clearly. There was always 5 to 8 feet of water in the river beneath the bridge, but this time the surface stones have also emerged. Places of stone mounds are visible. Regionalists say that for the first time in their lifetime, Narmada has been so much dry. However, the opinion of the people about Narmada water level decrease is different. Some people believe that due to low rainfall in the past year, some people are reporting illegal sand mining for it, while some senior citizens are claiming to be it the effects of Kalyug. Whatever the cause is, but the lowest water level in the Narmada river is shocking and grief for the visitors too.
