Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena MP, claimed on Wednesday that Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration is stable and that the opposition’s propaganda about a “threat” to the governing alliance was false.
Raut’s comments came a day after NCP president Sharad Pawar met with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray amid speculation in state political circles about divisions within the MVA government, which includes the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, as well as rumours that the Sena is considering a reconciliation with former ally BJP.
“Everything is fine,” Raut remarked to reporters here. The MVA government is not under danger. The opposition’s rhetoric about a threat to the government is false.”
When asked about CM Thackeray’s meeting with NCP president Pawar on Tuesday, Raut claimed they talked about the “current political scenario.”
“Two major alliance leaders – the chief minister and the government’s primary guiding force – met,” the Rajya Sabha member continued.
After the meeting, Raut stated he spoke with Pawar.
“I don’t believe regular people are thrilled with this booster dose,” Raut remarked in response to a question on the federal government’s package launched lately to revive the economy ravaged by the COVID-19 epidemic. The government has not provided any answers to citizens’ worries about loss of livelihood, job loss, and growing unemployment.”
As part of a package to support the pandemic-hit economy, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Rs 1.5 lakh crore in additional credit for small and medium businesses, more funds for the healthcare sector, loans to tourism agencies and guides, and a waiver of visa fees for foreign tourists on Monday.
The stimulus package — mostly made up of government guarantees to banks and microfinance institutions for loans they extend to COVID-19-hit sectors — totaled Rs 6.29 lakh crore when combined with the previously announced Rs 93,869 crore spending on providing free food grains to the poor until November and an additional Rs 14,775 crore fertilizer subsidy.
