Shoe was thrown at the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief and MP Asaduddin Owaisi. Owaisi was addressing a rally in protest against triple Talaq on Tuesday.
The incident is in Nagpara area of Mumbai. During that time Owaisi was addressing a rally. At the rally, they were giving speeches against Triple Talaq, and in the meantime a man threw shoe at him.
According to police information, the accused has not been arrested. Police said that the accused has been identified with the help of CCTV and will be taken into custody soon.
After the incident, Owaisi said that I am ready to give my life for my democratic rights. All these people are disappointed who can not see that government’s decision on Triple talaq is not acceptable to the public, especially to the Muslims. Those people who are doing these acts do not want the people, especially the Muslim community, to oppose the bill against three divorces.
Owaisi further said that these people follow the ideology of those who killed Mahatma Gandhi, but such an event could not prevent them from speaking the truth.
Owaisi has alleged that triple talaq bills are a conspiracy against Muslims and there is a move to punish the men of the community. He said that a committee of parliament had considered the matter related to the controversy related to the film ‘Padmavat’, but no such step was taken regarding the issue of triple talaq.
