Chief Minister apprises on PESA rule
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the PESA rule has been implemented in 89 tribal-dominated development blocks of the state. In these development blocks, the Gram Sabha has been entrusted with the rights of water, land and forest. This rule is not against any class and person and it will harm no one. Under the PESA rule, the Patwari and the beat guard of the forest department will have to produce the details of Khasra, land records etc. in front of the gram sabha every year, to avoid any land misappropriation. If a discrepancy is found in the land record, the gram sabha will have the right to rectify it. The land taken by the government for the development project can also be given only after the permission of the Gram Sabha. Any outsider will not be able to get the land in his name after marrying fraudulently. Gram Sabha will be able to take action if such a case comes to its notice. Under the PESA rule, permission will have to be obtained from the Gram Sabha for leasing and auctioning mineral mines. The Gram Sabha has been given the right to collect forest produce and tendu leaves and fix their selling price. The Gram Sabha will also prepare an action plan for village development. Along with this, the muster roll of development works will be kept in the Gram Sabha. Workers going out of the village for wages will have to inform the Gram Sabha.
