The MP Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has taken cognizance of bad road condition in Bhopal. The main roads are in bad shape in the City.
MPHRC member Manohar Mamtani has taken cognizance in this matter of larger public interest.
The Commission has sought reply from the Municipal Commissioner, Bhopal and the Divisional Project Engineer and Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department, Bhopal within three weeks in this regard.
Most of the roads in Bhopal city are in bad condition after the rains. On various road routes two to four feet long and wide potholes obstructing smooth vehicular movement.
In Bhopal city 1500 km of road out of 4700 km is in bad shape. Despite this, the officials of the concerned department responsible to maintain the roads are delaying repairs.
The public face problem to drive vehicles due to the potholes on the roads. But the responsible officials are yet to make plan for repair and construction of roads.
Taking cognizance of the problem related to larger interest of the public, the MPHRC has sought detailed reply in three weeks from the Commissioner, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and the Divisional Project Engineer and Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department, Bhopal. The Commission has asked these officers to give a detailed report of the action plan prepared with regard to necessary repairs for their area of jurisdiction and making the road, timely redressal of the problem and action taken for protection of fundamental and human rights of common man.
