The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) takes cognizance on a complaint received from Congress MP (Rajya Sabha) Digvijay Singh alleged the police inaction against the culprits dumped hazardous chemical in some agriculture fields in Kalikirai in Mhow.
On the complaint of Rajya Sabha MP, the commission sought reply from the Chief Secretary, the DGP, PCB Secretary and the Collector Indore by June 2 next.
Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission chairman Justice Narendra Kumar Jain received a written complaint from Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Digvijay Singh, on May 2, 2022.
In the complaint, Singh has mentioned the police under political pressure was taking action against the demonstrators instead of taking action against the criminals who endangered the lives of thousands of people by dumping poisonous chemicals in certain agriculture fields in village Kalikirai, coming under Manpur police station area of Mhow, the official note said, on Wednesday.
In the complaint, also he mentioned the social workers of Manpur area had told during his recent visit that last year when the country was battling an epidemic like Corona. Where some persons brought liquid poisonous chemical from nearby factories and dumped it in some agriculture fields of Kalikirai village near Manpur.
When the villagers saw the chemical substance in the agriculture field, on June 4, 2021, they submitted an application to the Manpur police station demanded to register a case against the culprits.
Due to this toxic chemical dumped in the concerned agriculture land, the water sources is getting toxic and the people are taken ill. The police was trying to crush the democratically organized protests by registering cases against those opposing the dumping of hazardous chemical in the agriculture fields in this village.
As soon as the complaint was received, the Commission took up the matter.
