The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) has sought reply within a week from the state director general of police (DGP) and the inspector general of police (IG) Rewa zone into the incident of the cops strip down a journalist and seven others inside the Kotwali police station in district Sidhi and uploaded their photo on social media.
MPHRC chairman Justice Narendra Kumar Jain took cognizance on the news reports about the police action against the journalist who allegedly uploaded news against a local MLA and his son in social media.
The incident occurred at the Kotwali police station in the Sidhi district headquarter on April 2, 2022 where the eight persons were strip down by the cops. The police first arrested theatre artist Neeraj Kunder, thereafter some of his supporters reached the police station where the police arrested all of them and strip them and uploaded their picture on social media.
After the complaint reached the police headquarters at Bhopal action was taken against Sidhi Kotwali police station incharge Manoj Soni and sub inspector Abhishek Singh were line attached.
The matter is probed by the additional superintendent of police Sidhi.
