A Dalit woman was beaten up by Khutar MP Police outpost in-charge Surendra Yadav with sticks in Singrauli district. She has suffered injuries on head, arms and legs.

On October 3, the woman complained to the Superintendent of Police and Child Welfare Committee.

Ramabai Basor of village Khatkhari told her daughter-in-law has gone to maternal home with two children.

The son went to bring bakc the children, but the daughter-in-law does not allow them to come with him. On the other hand, the daughter-in-law had also lodged a complaint at Khutar Chowki.

In the evening of October 1, MP Police outpost in-charge Surendra Yadav called the woman and her husband to the outpost, there abused them and beaten up the woman with a stick.

The woman said, the outpost in-charge threatened to send her to the jail under relevant sections including dowry provisions and told her not to complain the matter to the officers.

The woman alleges that the outpost in-charge took Rs.5000 and allowed to leave her.

Taking cognizance in the matter, Chairman, Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission, Justice Narendra Kumar Jain has sought factual reply from the Superintendent of Police, Singrauli within a month.
