In a serious case of Sultanpur police of Raisen district keeping a tribal in jail for about 50 days without any crime, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission has asked the state government to pay Rs 2 lakh to the victim in two months.
It is noteworthy that after a thorough investigation in the case number 8426/Raisen/2021 in the commission, the commission has recommended that since the crime no. in 291/17, the complainant/victim Santosh Bhil, was arrested by the research officer without any basis and sent him to judicial custody and kept him in jail for about 50 days.
This resulted in gross violation of fundamental/human rights to life and liberty of the aggrieved Santosh Bhil.
Therefore, the Madhya Pradesh government should pay compensation of two lakh rupees to the victim Santosh Bhil in the next two months.
The commission has said that if the state government wants, it can recover this compensation amount from the concerned public servants.
