The Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission asked the Inspector General of Police Gwalior range and the Jail Superintendent Central Jail Gwalior to conduct inquiry into a prisoner admitted in the Government Hospital at Gwalior was allegedly given luxury facility like laptop/mobile phone.
The Commission asked the IGP and the Jail Superintendent to file report in this matter within ten days.
The Commission has taken serious note of reports about a prisoner lodged in the Central Jail Gwalior admitted one of ward of the government hospital is given a luxury facilities.
Apart from it the prisoner is allegedly using laptops and mobiles openly, he is also meeting with his near ones. At the same time, the guard posted here sleeps ignorantly on the adjoining bed.
A prisoner Harish Sharma of the Central Jail Gwalior, was recently admitted to the super specialty located at JAH as was ill.
The entire ward is reserved for the prisoner Harish Sharma and the persons who come to meet him.
The persons start visiting the prisoner from morning and continue to meet him till night.
A video call was also going on the laptop and the prisoner was talking about his property from the mobile.
There was no police guard or hospital staff to check him.
Nor anyone else from the hospital management.
The jail superintendent says he has been referred to the hospital on the doctor’s report. The police is responsible for his safety and care. We can’t do anything about it.
In this case, the MP Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Inspector General of Police, Gwalior and Central Jail Superintendent, Gwalior after conducting an inquiry into the matter. Along with this, it has also been directed that it should also be ensured that no prohibited item is given or made available to the prisoner for use.
