The Madhya Pradesh High Court has allowed the prayer of the State government to hear a PIL on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to submit action taken for compliance of norms on wearing helmet for two wheelers, wearing seat belt and installation of high security registration plates on vehicles.
“Additional Advocate General submits that the matter be taken up on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on which dates the statistics will be provided regarding what they have done till the previous dates”, said the court order of February 29.
Additional Advocate General filed the status report along with certain documents, the court order said, during hearing of the PIL.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice R Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra observed “on considering the same, we do not think that complete effort has been made by the respondents to comply with the orders”.
Amicus Curiae advocate Dinesh Upadhyay said the state government filed the status report over compliance of the court order related to wearing of helmet, seat belt and installation of high security plates on vehicles.
The PIL was filed by Aishwarya Shandilya of Gwalior seeking direction from the high court for compliance of the Motor Vehicle Act norms related action taken on wearing of helmet by driver of two wheelers, wearing of seat belt and installation of high security registration plates on vehicles, the counsel said.
