The Madhya Pradesh High Court has imposed cost of Rs.25000 on the MP government for not filing reply to a PIL to recover money of paramedical scholarship scam from the private colleges across the state.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice Vishal Mishra said ‘In spite of granting sufficient time, the respondents/State have still not filed the reply’.
The court order said At request of Additional Advocate General, call next week finally on payment of cost of Rs.25,000 to be paid with the M.P. High Court Employees Association, Jabalpur ….. within one week’.
The MP Law Student Association through its president advocate Vishal Baghel has filed the PIL claiming between 2010-2015 large number of private colleges running paramedical courses has done fake enrollment of the students and claimed scholarship in their names and the state government released the scholarship amount to them.
The PIL said despite the complaints were made against the illegal claim of money of scholarship but no action was taken by the authorities, the counsel said.
Across the state over 100 complaints are registered with the Lokayukta related to the post matric scholarship scam against various colleges and govt. officers, the counsel said.
The govt. has to recover Rs. 15 crore from the private colleges as only 1.23 crore is recovered as yet, he said.
