Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah emphasised the need for forensic science based investigation of criminal cases.
He said third degree treatment of criminals is no more relevant as it was the practice of the British now we (Indians) are ruling in the country.
He laid the foundation stone of the 5th campus of National Forensic Science University Gujarat to come up on 27 acres of land near Bhopal. More such campus are being opened in Manipur, Assam and Karnataka, while plans are there to open such campus in Rajasthan and Chandigarh. In next two years, the campus of the varsity in Gujarat will be opened in ten states, he hoped.

Also he presided over the 23rd meeting of the Central Zonal Council in Bhopal today.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the meeting, while Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel attended the meeting through virtual medium.
Senior Ministers of Member States, Union Home Secretaries, Secretaries of Inter-State Council Secretariat, Chief Secretaries of Member States and senior officials of State Governments and Central Ministries and Departments were also present in the meeting.
Shah in his address said the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh included in the Central Council are important for their geographical location, contribution to GDP and development of the country.
He said the Central Zonal Council states are the main centers of food grain production in the country and the four states included in the council have implemented the concept of Team India of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji on the ground level.
Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always worked to strengthen the spirit of cooperative federalism.
In the last 8 years after becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has brought the concept of Team India to the fore in the whole country.
Giving the figures of increase in the number of regional council meetings after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, Shah said that there has been a three-fold increase in the frequency of regional council meetings since 2014 as compared to 1957 to 2013.
He said despite Covid-19, the increase in the number of meetings announces the Prime Minister’s team India concept. Shah said there has been an increase of 27 per cent in resolving issues in Zonal Council meetings after 2019 which is a big achievement.
