Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-nomadic Tribes Welfare, Ramkhelawan Patel has said that all possible efforts will be made by the state government to connect the people of Denotified tribe with the mainstream.
The state government has run various schemes for their social and educational reforms.
He urged the public representatives to cooperate in taking these schemes to the common man.
Minister of State Patel was addressing the celebrations on Vimukti Diwas in Bhopal on Wednesday.
He also rewarded the meritorious students.
He said that Denotified, Nomadic and Semi Nomadic Tribal Welfare Departments have been formed separately in the state for effective implementation of the schemes.
Panchayat was also organized for the development of these sections at the Chief Minister’s residence last year.
Out of 17 announcements made by Chief Minister Chouhan, 11 announcements have been implemented.
Referring to the glorious history of the Denotified tribe, Minister of State Patel said that in order to suppress the brave contribution of these sections in the first freedom struggle movement of the country, the British government had declared denotified castes ‘criminal’.
After the independence of the country, this law was removed by bringing a bill in the Parliament on 31 August, 1952.
Since then 31 August is being celebrated as Vimukt Jati Diwas in the country.
Minister of State Patel said that the state government is bearing all the expenses for providing higher education to the children of these sections. Under this scheme, more than 8 thousand students are taking benefits in the state.
Some of the denotified castes travel throughout the year.
Due to this, the education of the children is not affected, so that the facility is being given to give admission in another school on the basis of the earlier admission.
For concrete implementation of the schemes of these categories in each district, committees have now been constituted under the chairmanship of the District Collector.
In Sarvodaya, Gyanodaya, Eklavya Vidyalaya and hostels, 2 percent seats have been reserved for the education of children of these categories. Minister of State Patel said that the process of reserving 10 acres of land in Indore for the construction of museum is being done expeditiously to preserve the culture of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi Nomadic tribes.
He said that the process of making Scheduled Tribe certificates of the people of these classes is also in vogue.
Minister of State Patel felicitated the winners of sports, essay, writing and speech competitions on the Vimukti Diwas by giving certificates and prizes. Minister of State Shri Patel also interacted directly with the public representatives and students of these sections. Deputy Secretary Sushri Lata Sharanagat also addressed the gathering.
