Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in future, there is a plan to set up solar power plants at Bargi and Gandhi Sagar reservoirs akin to the initiative taken to set up a solar powered floating plant at Omkareshwar dam reservior.
US Consulate General (Consul General) Michael Hankey paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Chouhan also invited Shri Hankey for the Global Investors Summit to be held in January. Hankey said that the natural beauty of Bhopal is impressive.
Welcoming Hankey on behalf of the people of the state, Chief Minister Chouhan said that Madhya Pradesh is the heart of the country.
Madhya Pradesh is at the forefront of the country in the field of cleanliness on the call of Prime Minister Modi, he said.
‘Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project’ is a major project established in Rewa district in the field of renewable energy. Its cost is Rs 4 thousand 500 crore and its capacity is 750 MW. Initiative has been taken to set up a solar powered floating plant at Omkareshwar. In future, there is a plan to set up such plants at Bargi and Gandhi Sagar reservoirs as well.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that there are vast possibilities of increasing cooperation between India and the US in various fields. The meeting is important for working on bilateral trade and investment priorities.
He said exports from Madhya Pradesh to the US have increased in the last three years. Exports were USD 1.05 billion in the year 2019-20, while this figure has increased to USD 1.28 billion in the year 2020-21 and USD 1.43 billion in the year 2021-22. The products mainly exported from Madhya Pradesh to the US include basmati rice, medicines, cotton textiles, edible oil etc.
Possibilities of US -Madhya Pradesh cooperation
Chief Minister Chouhan told that Madhya Pradesh has a central and ideal role in terms of investment. About 60 percent of the land area of the country can be easily covered from Madhya Pradesh. There is regular dialogue with the investors by the state government.
He said partnership between US and Madhya Pradesh in advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, machinery equipment, automobile, pharma and medical equipment sector can be taken forward with an MoU between U.S. and MPIDC and USTDA, a government organization of Madhya Pradesh.
A very good base has been established in the state in the field of agriculture development, horticulture and food processing. Madhya Pradesh is the largest wheat exporting state in India. In this field too, possibilities of investment are being explored by sharing technology with the US.
Efforts are being made to establish Center of Excellence, Incubation Center and Common Facility Center in partnership with US companies in the areas of skill development and training, innovation and R&D. The priority is to find new opportunities for partnership and innovation in smart city development in the state.
Madhya Pradesh is striving for more investment in infrastructure (roads), financial and renewable sectors. Possibilities exist to provide marketing opportunities in the US to selected ODOP products in the state. Entrepreneurs are getting the benefit of the “Start Your Business in Thirty Days” system.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that due to the strong law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh, the state has a favorable environment for industries. Criminal elements are not allowed to raise their heads. We have resolved to crush the elements that harm humanity.
Madhya Pradesh is ahead in Waste to Wealth by making efforts for women empowerment and producing energy from waste.
Green energy and pharma sector is continuously developing. Manish Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion was also present during the discussion.
