The Jabalpur Sessions Court has served notices to ex-DGP Surrendra Singh, DGP Sudhir Saxena, and other officials on a revision complaint filed by Retd. DSP seeking action under provisions of IPC against them for their malicious action to conduct departmental inquiry for taking medical leave harassed mentally.

The court issued the notices to the police officials during hearing of a revision petition filed by retired DSP Ashok Kumar Rana challenging the JMFC court order that dismissed his complaint case, the complainant counsel Sanjay Soni said.

The revision petition came up for hearing before the court of eight Additional Sessions Judge Vipin Singh Bhadoria on June 23, 2023.

The petitioner has filed the complaint against these police officials under sections 218, 166 and 219 of IPC for felt mentally harassed due to malicious action of the police officers who conducted the departmental inquiry against him related to medical leave despite informing the official in advance, the petitioner’s counsel said.

The counsel said it is must to hold preliminary investigation before conducting the departmental inquiry which was not done by the police officers.

The matter was challenged in the High Court which dismissed the inquiry, the counsel said.

Rana retired from the police service on 31.1.2017.
