Chief Electoral Officer, Madhya Pradesh Anupam Rajan reached the counting venue Old Jail in Bhopal on Thursday and observed the preparations being made for the counting of votes for seven assembly constituencies of the district on 3rd December under the Assembly Elections-2023.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan was informed in detail by Collector and District Election Officer Ashish Singh about the arrangements and preparations being made for the counting of votes.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan visited the counting rooms made assembly wise and took stock of the preparations. Also he saw the preparations being made for counting of postal ballots and the security arrangements of the strong room.
He sought information about the counting table, number of staff engaged in counting, security arrangements, number of postal ballots etc.
Later he inspected the control room. He also held a discussion with the representatives of the election candidates staying in the counting venue premises and saw the monitoring arrangements of the strong room from the room itself through CCTV.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan seemed satisfied with the arrangements for counting of votes and also gave necessary directions.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajan directed that the counting of votes for the Assembly Elections-2023 will begin on December 3 at 8 am with the counting of postal ballots.
Counting of votes recorded in EVM will start from 8:30 am. On the day of counting, it should be ensured that there is continuous supply of electricity and that the counting is not affected due to any reason.
All arrangements should be available smoothly at the counting venue. On this occasion, Additional Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, Nodal Officer Counting Sandeep Kerketta, Deputy DEO Ravi Shankar Rai and other officers were present.
