The MP Police begins probe into ragging complaint of State Government run MGM Medical College Indore.
The Sanyogitaganj police station in Indore has an FIR under sections 342, 294, 323 and 506 of IPC against unknown students on basis of a complaint of ragging forwarded by the medical college administration.
The medical college administration received the complaint from the University Grants Commission (UGC), according to the police.
The complaint pertains to seniors allegedly ragged juniors, the police said.
Dr. Sanjay Dixit told local reporters that the complaint was received from the UGC relates to seniors allegedly ragged first year students of medical course.
The matter was immediately put up before the college’s Anti Ragging Committee, he said.
The committee found the matter is serious on examining the complaint and instead of recommending disciplinary action, asked to register an FIR against the seniors, he said.
Thus an application that was supported with the technical evidence to support the claim of ragging was forwarded to the police to lodge an FIR in this matter, he said.
According to ethics, the names of the victims and seniors have not been mentioned in the complaint.
