One killed and three injured after the forest patrolling team allegedly opened fire on them in forest area of Lateri in Videsha district on Tuesday late night.
State Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra said the Lateri incident is very sad. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. Financial assistance of Rs.20 lakh will be given to the kin of the deceased and Rs. 5 lakh each to the injured in the incident, he said.
The case under section 302 of IPC is registered and action is being taken against the forest department personnel put under suspension, Mishra said.
Meanwhile Congress state chief and ex-Chief Minister Kamal Nath in a series of tweets it is a serious incident where there is death of a tribal youth and injuries sustained to three tribal youths has come to light in the forest department’s firing in the forests of Lateri in Videsha district. Will the Shivraj government, which is doing false functions in the name of tribals and questioned what is the reason why tribals are being tortured every time whether it is Nemavar, Mandsaur or Videsha? The Chief Minister should immediately apologize to the tribal community for this incident, Nath said.
