Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that survival and protection of both wild animals and humans is important.
There should be such coordination in this work that neither side is harmed. Chief Minister Chouhan expressed the need of awareness among citizens for conservation of rare bird Kharmor (florican) in Sardarpur and Sailana area.
Similarly, if the government and society together make efforts for the protection of Son Chidiya (Great Indian Bustard), then it will help in maintaining the identity of wildlife conservation of Madhya Pradesh. CM Chouhan was addressing the 23rd meeting of Madhya Pradesh State Wildlife Board at Mantralaya.
Forest Minister Dr. Kunwar Vijay Shah, Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Principal Secretary Forest Shri Ashok Varnwal and board members were present. All the members of the board expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister by standing and welcoming him for successfully completing the rehabilitation of Cheetahs in the Kuno National Park in the state after bringing them from Africa.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the protection of wildlife is a sacred objective.
At the same time, it is also necessary to see that the number of wild animals does not increase in such a way that it causes inconvenience to the human society. There must be a condition of necessary balance.
For this, area wise separate study should be done regarding the number of wild animals in the forest area.
Board members expressed gratitude towards CM Shri Chouhan
There was a discussion regarding the reintroduction of Cheetahs brought from Namibia in the Kuno National Park. It was told that Cheetahs brought by air from Africa have liked the environment in Kuno National Park. Continuing efforts have been made to move them into larger enclosures as per protocol and to maintain a favourable habitat. Board member Abhilash Khandekar said that this work has been appreciated globally.
Khandekar said that due to the interest of Chief Minister Chouhan in the direction of wildlife conservation and joint efforts of the Centre and the State, the release of cheetahs was done by Prime Minister Shri Modi in Kuno National Park, which is a historic event.
He urged the board members that for this, all the members should stand in their place and express their gratitude towards Chief Minister Shri Chouhan.
The members of the Board stood up with the clapping and expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister Shri Chouhan and congratulated him.
It was told that Madhya Pradesh has become a cheetah state along with tigers and leopards.
Innovative suggestions received
Discussion took place on the proposal of Tiger Safari in Dumna area near Jabalpur. Board member Dr. Surendra Tiwari suggested the arrangement of forest bath in forest areas in Madhya Pradesh like Japan.
In which arrangements for accommodation and food are made by giving permission to enter the forest area for a few days.
The tourist or wildlife lover gets relief from diseases like heart disease, blood pressure and diabetes by getting musical and natural environment at a fixed fee.
Describing this suggestion as innovative, Chief Minister Chouhan instructed the senior officers of the Forest Department to consider it.
The suggestions received related to the development of Nauradehi Sanctuary and Veerangana Rani Durgavati Tiger Reserve were also discussed.
Discussions were also held regarding the merger of a separate cadre of wildlife veterinarians in the Forest Department.
Similarly, information was given about the prevailing action regarding declaring Ratapani Sanctuary as Ratapani Tiger Reserve.
For this work, a proposal has been prepared according to the opinion of the people’s representatives of the area.
Approvals granted by the Board
After deliberations, necessary permission was granted for signal and telecommunication work in the working area of Katni-Singrauli railway line doubling scheme under Sanjay Tiger Reserve Sidhi. Similarly, for the purpose of underground pipeline for Balhaur Village Group Water Supply Scheme under Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve Umaria, necessary permission was given for wildlife area. Information about the compliance report of the decisions taken in the 22nd meeting of the board was also given.
