A Woman in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district ended up in the hospital after her husband bit off her nose in a fit of rage over a domestic dispute.
Police have arrested Dinesh Mali, husband of victim Tina, and a case has been registered at Alote police station.
According to Alote police station in-charge Neeraj Sarwan, Dinesh and Tina were married in Ujjain back in 2008. The couple has two daughters.
In her statement to the police, the victim said her husband is unemployed and has taken to alcohol. Tina was subjected to domestic abuse soon after the marriage. Fed up of the harassment, she went to her maternal home along with her daughters and earned a living as a cook. In 2019, she filed a court case demanding maintenance from her husband.
Dinesh recently visited Tina at her parents’ home to discuss the matter of maintenance, and a heated argument broke out between husband and wife. Angered, Dinesh attacked Tina in front of his daughters and latched onto her nose with his teeth, leaving deep wounds. When he noticed Tina bleeding, Dinesh fled from the spot.
Neighbours who heard Tina and her daughters’ cries came to help and rushed her to the hospital. The victim is undergoing treatment and her condition is stable, said Alote police station in-charge Neeraj Sarwan.
