Now tourists will also taste the traditional dishes of the tribes of Madhya Pradesh

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the state government is setting up tribal cafeterias with the aim of promoting tribal culture and economically empowering the local tribal communities at major tourist destinations of Madhya Pradesh.

Tribal cafeterias are under construction in Turiya village near Pench National Park in Seoni district of the state, near Kanha National Park in Balaghat district and Mandu in Dhar district.

Through these cafeterias, tourists will get an opportunity to get acquainted with the regional tribal culture, food, cuisine and craftsmanship.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the objective of this initiative is not only to promote tourism but also to provide employment opportunities to the local tribal communities.

This will give national recognition to the art and culture of the tribal community. Local tribal cuisine, handicrafts and traditional decorations will be available in the cafeteria, so that tourists can enjoy a unique cultural and family experience.

The establishment of these cafeterias will provide employment to the local tribal communities, which will increase their income. Certainly, new opportunities will be created in the tourism industry as well.

A formal proposal for this was prepared by Vanya Sansthan under the Tribal Affairs Department and sent to the government.

The government has approved 5 tribal cafeterias.

These tribal cafeterias will be operated by M.P. Tourism Development Corporation (MPT). Self-help groups of the tribal class will be associated with this.

These groups will prepare traditional dishes of the regional tribes and sell them through this cafeteria.

In the tribal cafeteria, dishes made from nutritious food of the tribes like Paej, Kodo-Kutki, Jowar-Bajra, Makka-Mahua, Char-Achar etc., sweets, halwa etc. will be prepared and sold to tourists. Along with this, craftsmanship, painting, toys, bamboo products etc. of the tribes will also be sold.

This will provide new means of livelihood to the tribal community and also generate additional income.

In the first phase, the site (land) for setting up tribal cafeterias in 3 districts of the state has been selected and work has been started.

The design (map) for the tribal cafeteria has also been passed. In the second phase, similar tribal cafeterias will be opened in Chhatarpur and another district.

Development funds received under tribal area administration

Under Article 275 of the Constitution, the Central Government gives 100% amount as grant for implementing development schemes under tribal area administration.

This amount is allocated to the state governments through the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Development funds have also been received for tribal cafeterias under tribal area administration.

These tribal cafeterias will be run by MPT through Vanya Sansthan under the full ownership of the Tribal Affairs Department.

For the tribal cafeteria, MPT will also provide proper training and technical guidance to the self-help groups of the tribal class.

The government is making great efforts towards economic self-reliance of the tribes through the tribal cafeterias being set up for the promotion and sale of tribal art and culture along with traditional tribal food and cuisine.
