Under the District Residency Programme, 320 post-graduate student doctors have been posted in district hospitals of the state from the month of April. MS, MD in medical colleges Students of third and fourth semester studying in the course have been posted in district hospitals in a phased manner.
Madhya Pradesh is the leading state in the implementation of the residency programme.
The District Residency Program has been made mandatory for PG students in the year 2021 by the President Post Graduate Medical Education Board in view of the Covid-19 pandemic by the National Medical Commission.
The services of specialist doctors are being made available in the district hospitals by the posting of postgraduate student doctors studying in the district residency programme.
In the District Residency Program, the first batch of student doctors from April to June 2023 are serving in various district hospitals. In the first batch, mainly 33 from Anesthesia, 15 from Community Medicine, 15 from ENT, 37 from General Medicine, 35 from General Surgery, 39 from Gynecology and Obstetrics, 15 from Ophthalmology, 28 from Orthopedics and 15 Paediatricians. And 21 pathologists, 20 radio diagnosis and 10 respiratory medicine specialists are providing services.
