Madhya Pradesh will get electricity from the first indigenous nuclear power reactor – India’s first indigenously built 700 MW nuclear power reactor has been installed in Gujarat’s Kakrapar Nuclear Power Project (Unit-3).
This unit has started commercial power generation on 30 June 2023.
Unit-4 of this project is likely to start power generation from February 2024 next year.
This is an important step in India’s nuclear energy programme.
Under the nuclear power-power purchase agreement, Madhya Pradesh has started getting this electricity at a cheaper rate continuously (24X7) from June 30 at the rate of only Rs 4.40 paise per unit (single part tariff).
This electricity received from Kakrapar Nuclear Power Project will prove useful in providing high quality electricity to the consumers of the state.
