An MoU was signed today by the state government with the Airports Authority of India to develop Datia and Rewa air strips as airports. In continuation of the announcement of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the decision taken in the Cabinet, on behalf of Madhya Pradesh Government, Commissioner Aviation Chandramauli Shukla and Director, Airports Authority of India Ramji Awasthi, Director Airports, the aviation authority of India signed the MoU.
It is noteworthy that Bhoomi-pujan was also performed after Chief Minister Shri Chouhan announced the construction of the airport.
Commissioner Aviation Shukla informed that ATR-72 aircraft will be operated after the development of the airports in Rewa and Datia. With the construction of airports in Datia and Rewa after Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Khajuraho, the number of airports in the state will increase to seven. Due to this, where there will be convenience for the people to travel, at the same time trade and business will also be facilitated. He told that in the operation of the aircraft, the participation of the central government will be 80 percent and that of state government will be 20 percent.
Commissioner Aviation informed that the entire development/upgradation and operation/maintenance of airport will be done as per civil aviation standards. In this, Madhya Pradesh government will provide necessary facilities for complete development of Rewa airport by Airports Authority of India in a phased manner, necessary arrangements for air traffic operations and amenities for the passengers.
