The State Water Resources Department has suspended four sub-engineers for dereliction in duty on basis of a preliminary report of the committee probing water leakage in Karam Dam in Dhar district.
The department has suspended sub engineers Vijay Kumar Jahtap, Ashok Kumar Ram, Dashavanta Sisodiya and RK Srivastava held responsible for leakage in Karam dam started on August 12 last.
A committee headed by the additional secretary was set up on August 15 to probe into the leakage in the dam.
The committee in a letter of August 20, 2022 to the department found certain discrepancies in construction that led to leakage of dam.
The families of 18 villages including 12 villages of Dhar district and 6 villages in Khargone district were shifted after the leakage in the dam under construction on river Karam.
The villagers are shifted to the relief camps created by the administration.
The specifications of the under construction dam is 590-meter-long and 52-meter-high dam of a medium-level irrigation project, has reservoir water capacity of 15 million cubic meter (MCM).
