For the prevention of spurious-adulterated milk and milk products made from spurious-adulterated milk, a special campaign for purification of milk is being conducted by the Food Safety Administration from March 2.
Commissioner Food Safety Dr. Sudam Khade informed that 1148 samples of milk and milk products were taken in a single day on March 6 for testing in the campaign. Of these, 206 legal, 66 surveillance, 207 mobile laboratory and 669 samples were taken from magic box. The total samples include 330 milk, 155 mawa, 107 paneer, 91 ghee and 465 samples of other milk products.
In the special campaign, punitive action is also being taken against the persons and institutions who manufacture, collect and sell spurious-adulterated milk and its products. Till now the licenses of 2 institutions have been suspended and cases have been registered against 3 in the court. Adulterated milk and food items made from adulterated milk worth Rs 40 lakh 4 thousand have been seized. In the last 4 days, 2031 samples have been taken for testing milk and milk products.
On-the-spot testing of milk and milk products being used by the common man on a daily basis is also being done through Food Laboratory and Magic Box run by the Food Safety Administration. Apart from this, intensive checking of milk collection centers, chilling plants, milk transport vehicles and establishments of food traders of mawa, paneer, ghee is also being done in the campaign.
