Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that along with development in Naxal-affected areas, the work of controlling Naxal activities should go on continuously. This is also very important in the interest of the local people.
CM Chouhan was reviewing the road construction works under the RCPLWEA (Road Connectivity Projects in Left Wing Affected Areas) scheme in a meeting held at the residence office today.
Chief Minister Chouhan congratulated the Hawk Force of the police for killing 5 Naxalites in the year 2022.
CM Chouhan called it an achievement. Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains, Director General of Police Sudhir Kumar Saxena, Principal Secretary Home Rajesh Rajoura and senior officers were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the construction work of 39 roads of 321 km length in Balaghat and Mandla districts should be completed expeditiously. 70 districts in 10 states of India have been included in the SRE scheme (Security Related Expenditure). Balaghat, Mandla and Dindori of Madhya Pradesh are included in the scheme.
It was told that under the RCPLWEA scheme, the Central Government has approved the construction of 31 roads in the year 2021-22. Out of these, work order and tender proceedings are in progress for 28 roads. The Forest Department has also completed the necessary process for the construction of three other roads. While the pace of road construction has picked up in Naxal-affected areas, bridges and culverts are also being constructed at a rapid pace. There is a target to complete the total length of 2662 meter bridge-culverts. Project reports have been prepared in respect of 17 bridges sanctioned by the Central Government and 15 bridges coming on the roads.
Effective Naxal control
The Director General of Police said that since the start of the anti-Naxal campaign in the year 1990, the maximum numbers of Naxalites have been killed in any single year this year.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the courage and action taken by the Hawk Force jawans is commendable. These jawans deserve congratulations. It was told that in the year 1992, the work of eradicating the Naxalites started. Between 2008 and 2021, 11 Naxalites were killed. In just one year i.e. in the year 2022, 5 Naxalites have been killed. For the first time, 2 AK 47 were also seized from the Naxalites. This is a special achievement.
It was told that information technology is being used for better control on Naxalite activities. Mobile towers have been installed in Balaghat area. Work is being done with coordination in the Naxalite affected area. The staff of the Forest Department is also fully cooperative.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Chouhan has sanctioned special allowance for Hawk Force and other staff posted in Naxal-affected districts this year. With the setting up of Hawk Force camps in Naxal-affected districts of the state, there has been success in controlling Naxalites as well as stopping the expansion of Naxal activities.
