The three-day first Vision Zero Summit is going to be held in Bhopal from today, May 29, to overcome the deaths and serious injuries caused by road accidents.
Additional Director General of Police, PTRI G Janardan has informed that Home Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra will be chief guest and the transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput will be the special guest of the inaugural session.
The summit will be presided over by Dr. Manmohan Kapse, Professor and Dean, MANIT Bhopal. Director General of Police Sudhir Saxena, Transport Commissioner SK Jha, Director MANIT Shri Ramashankar Verma will also address the summit.
The summit will begin on May 29 at 4 pm at Hotel Courtyard Marriott, which will continue till May 31.
The summit is being held to chalk out necessary strategies with the country’s researchers, policy makers and physicians to prevent road accident deaths and serious injuries. Over 50 research papers will be presented by academicians from institutions working on fields such as engineering, land use planning, driver psychology and education, safety management, healthcare and trauma facilities, vehicle technology. In this, officers of Police, Transport, Road Construction Agency and Education and Health Department working in the field of road safety will be involved. Various issues related to road safety will be discussed in the summit.
Professors, researchers, scholars, doctors, policy-makers and administrators working in the field of road safety in prestigious institutions like Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, Central Road Research Institute New Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) will also participate in the summit. It will also see the presence of various reputed NGOs working in the field of road safety like Save Life Foundation, Raahgiri Foundation and Transportation Research Group (TRG) India.
