Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Prem Singh Patel addressed the state’s first ‘Pashupalak Sammelan for Promotion of Goat Farming and Entrepreneurship Development’ in Bhopal.
Successful goat farmers give tips
- Start with 5-10 pure breed goats, take advice from an experienced person.
- Good price of goat milk is available when needed.
- Soap, shampoo producers buy goat milk at Rs.200 to Rs.500 per liter.
- The price of goat meat did not decrease even for a single day during the Corona period.
- Due to demand in Jhabua and Mumbai, meat is sold at the same price.
- Goat rearing also requires insurance.
- Don’t sell good breed goat because of weight, let them breed.
- Demand for canned meat is increasing.
Minister Patel said that by adopting modern technology, goat rearing should be done with the help of Animal Husbandry Department and to ensure good income.
He assured to remove the difficulties faced by goat farmers in getting bank loans.
Managing Director MPCDF Tarun Rathi and State Poultry Development Corporation and Livestock H.B.S. Bhadauria was also present.
Additional Chief Secretary Animal Husbandry and Dairy J.N. Kansotia said that the demand for goat products is increasing in the market.
In order to increase the high breed goat lineage in the state, artificial insemination program will be started in the entire state soon after starting from the identified districts.
Goat rearing in a scientific manner and timely vaccination will help in promoting the business.
Kansotia told the subject experts, veterinarians and goat farmers participating in the conference to brainstorm on preparing goat fodder as an alternative to traditional wheat, maize and jaggery.
Kansotia informed that the poultry business is being registered since last year. Now goat rearing will also be registered.
Veterinary Council of India President Dr. Umesh Chandra Sharma said that Madhya Pradesh is fifth in the country and India is second in the world in goat rearing.
Artificial insemination is very important for high breed of goat.
A Good breed goat ranges Rs. one to 1.5 lakh. Through artificial insemination, this facility will be available to the rearers from frozen straw for just Rs.70.
Director Dr. RK Mehia said that 38 percent increase in goat population in comparison to the last animal census in the state is proof that people’s inclination towards goat rearing has increased.
In the program, Dr. Mukul Anand of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Veterinary University and subject experts of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary University also gave detailed information about the scientific methods of goat rearing.
Deepak Patidar of Dhar engaged in goat business since last 22 years and Hemant Mathur of Bhopal, who has become a successful goat farmer from being a Telecom Engineer who worked in India and abroad, shared his success stories in an interesting manner.
The questions of cattle farmers from all over the state were also resolved in the program.
Deputy Director Dr. Anupam Agrawal conducted the program and Joint Director Dr. Patel proposed the vote of thanks.
