Dr. Ashwini Pathak (58) and his wife Dr. Duhita Pathak (48) were arrested by the police on Sunday for alleged forgery and cheating related to Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantra Jan Arogya Yojna for treating 70 people Ayushman Card holders in a hotel instead of a hospital.
The doctor were booked under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 474, 34 Bhadvi and Section 8, 8A, 9, 10 Madhya Pradesh treatment and hospital related While registering the offense of Establishment (Registry and Licensing) Act 1973 and Rules 1997 Amendment Act 2008.
The case was registered against the doctor couple on ground of the investigation report filed by the chief medical and health officer Jabalpur, the police said.
Prima facie it was found the diagnosis recorded in the hospital file and the symptoms mentioned by the patient are different, and the diagnosis recorded in the patient’s file and treatment received by the patient and the treatment details written in the hospital file are also different, the police said.
Around 5.00 pm when Dr. Dheeraj Dhabde inspection was done at that time a total of 30 patients were found admitted on the first floor, second and third floors of Hotel Vega. But at 9.30 pm, no patient was found in the rooms of the third floor in the hotel and the rooms were locked, while at 5.00 pm patients were found admitted in the third floor.
The hotel was being illegally used as a hospital. There was no registration under M.P. Hospitality homes and establishments related to hospitality (Registration and Licensing) Act and Rules 1997, as well as the rules of Biomedical Waste Management were not followed.
The name of Central India Kidney Hospital is written on the file of the patients admitted in the hotel and the doctors whose names are mentioned in the files have not been found to see the patients.
