The Madhya Pradesh Congress face objection from its MLA (Bhopal Central) Arif Masood questioned party’s directives to celebrate Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti.
On April 2, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee issued a circular to its cadres across the state to celebrate Ram Navami on April 10 and Hanuman Jayanti on April 16 next.
Further the circular ask its cadres to recite Ram Katha, Ramlila and perform prayers of Lord Rama on Ram Navami and recite Sundar Kand and Hanuman Chalisa on Hanuman Jayanti.
Masood has termed the party’s move as a wrong precedent for asking the party workers to celebrate these festivals.
He is surprise for the Congress not issued such instructions to the party units to celebrate Ramadazn and festivals of other faiths.
Talking to the reporters he said being a political party Congress should not have issued such a circular.
The Congress has tradition to take along all the religions, he said.
This move of the state Congress is seen to reach out to the Hindu community ahead of the assembly polls in MP next year.
Commenting on the Congress’ circular, Bharatiya Janata Party state spokesperson Dr. Hitesh Bajpai said Congress leader Kamal Nath has sent the circular to the party workers to read Hanuman Chalisa on Hanuman Jayanti is in view of the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
He claimed Kamal Nath is ‘chunavi bhakt’ (becomes ardent devotee during elections) of Lord Hanuman.
He (Kamal Nath) constructed temple in Chhindwara for vanvasis (tribals) and poors to seek vote during election, the temple is constructed in Chhindwara and but he resides in Dubai and , Bajpai said. Bajpai came out with the suggestion to Nath to ask Congress MLA Arif Masood whether he will follow the instructions (to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti)
