Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that instructions have been given to all government offices to reduce electricity consumption by 10 percent.
If we save one unit of electricity, we reduce the emission of 900 grams of carbon dioxide. Solar panels will be installed in government offices where solar energy can be used.
The energy obtained from the Sun is green and clean, so why should we use more electricity generated from coal. Environmental protection is our collective responsibility. The society along with the government, will have to work for it with commitment and mobility.
Chief Minister Chouhan was addressing a state level programme on World Environment Day at Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium on the theme “Only One Earth”. All the districts were virtually connected to the programme.
Chief Minister Chouhan honored the institutions and citizens working for environmental protection.
Chief Minister Chouhan also released the book of Forest Department, “Protection of Narmada River Watershed – Tree Plantation Campaign – 2022”, a plan for tree plantation on the banks of river Narmada.
A presentation was given by the Forest Department to the Chief Minister Chouhan on the Narmada plantation year 2022.
It may be noted that World Environment Day is being celebrated as Tree Plantation Resolution Day. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan administered a pledge to the dignitaries present and all the citizens associated with the districts for environment-protection and service.
Environment Minister Hardeep Singh Dang and eminent social worker and environmentalist Shri Dhyaneshwar Jamdar and other public representatives were present. Environmentalists Padmashree Shri Popat Lal Pawar and Shri Jamdar also addressed the programme.
Chouhan said that Amarkantak would be declared as a reserve forest. The people residing there will not face any kind of problem. From the point of view of environmental protection, suitable species of plants will be planted in place of the eucalyptus trees which are unfavorable to the local environment around the origin of Narmada.
Chief Minister Chouhan administered five resolutions to the citizens of the state on Environment Day, which includes active involvement in tree plantation, saving electricity to conserve energy, pooling vehicles to ensure its economical use, adopting public transport and adherence to the Triple R’s i.e. Refuse, Reuse and Recycle according to Prime Minister Modi’s mantra.
Chouhan said that environment conservation would not be possible by celebrating Environment Day formally. We must put these resolutions into practice wholeheartedly.
He said that my family and I are very conscious about saving electricity at home. Whenever I leave the room, I turn off the switch. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also asked the ministers and the officials present that- ‘Do they also do this?’
Chouhan, while encouraging the people of Bhopal to plant trees said that the people of Bhopal are invited to plant saplings with me on their birthdays. Our culture is to worship nature. Govardhan Puja also establishes nature worship.
We have considered rivers as our mother, so concern for them is essential. In the process of development, trees around the rivers have been cut in large numbers, but a balance between environment and development is necessary. Developed countries are not reducing carbon emissions.
If we continue to be selfish like this, then the crisis on the existence of the earth will continue to intensify. Scientists believe that by the year 2050, the temperature of the earth is likely to increase by 1.5 to five degrees. Melting of glaciers will result in water-flooding.
He said that tree plantation is the only way to protect the environment. On the occasion of Hariyali Amavasya, saplings will be planted in every village, panchayat, development block, district headquarters by the people of the state.
Whether the world do it or not Madhya Pradesh will fulfill this responsibility, for which the cooperation of the people of the state is must.
The state has to be the best in plantation in the world, our state will be green, the ground water level will increase, the tweet of birds will increase, the effect of global warming and climate change will lessen.
