Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan bought Khadi clothes on the inaugural day of the 10-day National Khadi Festival and Exhibition at Bhopal Haat on Sunday evening.

He said that he has come to Bhopal haat to encourage Khadi garments manufacturers.

Chief Minister Chouhan visited the National Khadi Festival and State Level Exhibition (Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme) at Bhopal Haat.

He said that making things out of clay is also an art.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan paid obeisance to the idols of Ganesha and Gandhiji at the Khadi festival and at the exhibition site. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, while interacting with the textile craftsmen, sought information about their work.

Chief Minister Chouhan visited the stalls set up in Bhopal haat complex and also held talks with many artisans.

Principal Secretary Cottage and Village Industries Manu Shrivastava and Managing Director Khadi and Village Industries Board Anubha Shrivastava were present.

Chief Minister Chouhan also extended congratulations for the departmental activities.

Khadi should be promoted, Khadi clothing should be adotped

Chief Minister Chouhan said that modern charkhas and electric charkhas are being provided to the artisans and charkha makers associated with handicrafts.

Training has also been provided for this.

This year is the Amrit Mahotsav of independence. The government is trying to ensure that the textile artisans are doing good business.

Chouhan spun yarn in the spinning wheel at a stall. He sought information about the business from the vendors present at the stall.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that be it saris or kurtas, pyjamas, they have been given a beautiful look.

Prime Minister Shri Modi says that our artisans should get good work.

This work earns them a living. Artisans and weavers are being encouraged across the country to make the local vocal.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that artisans have been given training from the Mati Kala Board to prepare artifacts and household items from clay.

The state government has also given 75 percent subsidy to promote handicrafts.

Electric chalks are being provided. Pottery and Kulhad are also being made from clay.

He said that after reaching here today, he too tried to make a Kulhad. Chief Minister Chouhan displayed an electric potter’s chalk and presented it to a beneficiary symbolically.

These beneficiaries are entrepreneurs associated with Mati Kala, who have also got the benefit of the training program.

Chief Minister Chouhan initially welcomed the citizens who came to the Khadi festival and exhorted them to buy more and more Khadi clothes from the general public by displaying Khadi clothes.

Chief Minister Chouhan saw different types of charkhas at the stall of Meena Khatke of Indore and sought information about their working system.

He also inspected the departmental production center of Madhya Pradesh Khadi and Village Industries Board.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan launched the products

Chief Minister Chouhan also launched new products in Khadi festival. These include cotton muslin saris, travel kits (shampoo, soap, hair oil, body wash, body lotion), organic spices (turmeric, chilli, coriander), jaggery (one district-one product), havan material and samarani (incense cup).

CM Chouhan garlanded the potrait of former Prime Minister Late Lal Bahadur Shastri. Inaugrated the exhibition of spinning and weaving.

Along with this, Shailachak and gift hampers were also distributed.
