Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan today held a meeting with recognized national political parties at Nirvachan Sadan, Bhopal and gave detailed information about the Model Code of Conduct implemented in connection with the Assembly Elections 2023 in the state.
Rajan said that the distribution of voter slips will be completed after the last date of nomination, 30th October, and before 13th November. The total number of polling stations in the state is 64 thousand 523.
Maximum 4 forms can be filled by each candidate in the election. The fee at the time of filing nomination by the candidate is fixed at Rs 10,000. The fee for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates will be Rs 5 thousand. An affidavit will be given by the candidate.
Every candidate will have to fill an affidavit in the prescribed form along with nomination and provide it.
The affidavits submitted by the candidates will be displayed on the website of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer www.ceomadhyapradesh.nic.in within 24 hours.
Candidates will have to provide information about criminal cases, so that voters have enough time to know about the background of such candidates.
Also, political parties will have to publish announcements in newspapers and TV channels on 3 different dates stating the basis for selection of candidates with criminal cases.
Within 48 hours of the selection of the candidate, it will have to be published in Form C-7 in the newspaper, social media platform and party website.
Rajan said that with the announcement of the Election Commission of India, the Model Code of Conduct has become effective. The provisions of Model Code of Conduct are applicable on candidates, political parties and State and Central Government as per the instructions of the Commission. Control rooms and complaint cells have become functional in the districts. For unauthorized property defacement, the Commission has set a time limit of 24 hours from the announcement of elections to remove it from government properties, 48 hours from public properties and 72 hours from private properties.
The action of property defacement is going on in all the districts and assembly constituencies. Instructions have been issued to ministers, politicians or political parties to remove photographs, references and contexts from the official websites of the state government during the period of Model Code of Conduct.
Use of loudspeakers will be prohibited from 10 pm to 6 am. c-Vigil App is available for election related complaints of citizens, through which if citizens provide live photo, video and audio in the form of complaint, action will be taken within 100 minutes.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Kumar Kaul, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Rakesh Singh, Ruchika Chauhan, Manoj Khatri, Basant Kurre, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Pramod Shukla and representatives of recognized national political parties were present in the meeting.
