The Regional Meteorological Department of the IMD said on Wednesday that Odisha had received roughly 25% more rain than usual through June 17. The State received 118.9 mm of rain between June 1st and 17th, a 27 percent increase over the long-term normal, according to HR Biswas, Director of the IMD Centre.
During this time, 13 districts in the state saw 20 percent or more extra rainfall. According to the Met Department, eight districts have received an excess of 60% or more rainfall, with Koraput receiving the highest amount of monsoon seasonal rainfall at 194.2 mm.
In all, 14 districts received normal average rainfall ranging from -19% to +19%, whereas three districts, namely Ganjam, Keonjhar, and Bhadrak, had insufficient rainfall.
Dunguripalli in Sonepur has received the most rain in the previous 24 hours, with 87 mm, followed by Baliguda in Kandhamal with 80 mm.
Light to moderate rainfall with heavy rainfall is anticipated for one to two areas in North Odisha until June 18. In the next two days, the intensity of the rain will progressively reduce.
