Two pilots of Indian Air Force lost their lives due to an aircraft crash in Majuli district of Assam. 
A spokesman of the Department of Defense said that the light weight aircraft got crashed immediately after flying from Jorhat Airbase. The aircraft was on a regular flight in the afternoon. In New Delhi the officials said that the debris of the two-seater aircraft has been detected and the order of the Court of Inquiry has been ordered.
Lt Col Harshavardhana Pandey, spokesman of Defense Department located in Tezpur said that the two pilots were killed in the accident have been identified as Wg Cdr Jai Paul James and Wing Commander D. Watts. Officials said the pilots attempted emergency landing, but the plane crashed in the northern part of the district and there was a fire.
The accident occurred in Darbar Chapori, which is a sand area of Brahmaputra and there is no human population. People from other villages in the district witnessed a fire in the aircraft and informed the district officials.
The Air Force personnel of Ten Wing Air Force Station, Jorhat have left for the scene while the police and senior officials of the district have also left for the accident where the boat can be reached.
A senior IAF official said that details can be found only after reaching the spot.
